His first wife deserted him. In anger the man decided to marry 100 women just to prove that he can (polygamy is legal in India).
Udayanath Dakhina Ray, 80, of Orali village in Keonjhar district, who claimed he had married 90 times and was still flooded with wedding proposals, was shocked to find himself listed as a woman, the Oriya daily Dharitri reported.
The error had deprived him of his right to vote in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections in April. He has petitioned authorities for correcting the error.

However many he has he only lives with one.
Although Ray could not recall the whereabouts of all his other wives, residents of Orali claimed one of his wives lived in the same village.
