Undeterred, the 38-year-old preacher’s daughter e-mailed the essays to a few friends. A flood of requests for more soon followed. So she self-published the essays, which soon morphed into books. She set up her own publishing house, Strebor Books.
By 2000, her book, Addicted, made bestseller lists. She has since sold millions and signed a deal with publishing giant Simon and Schuster.
