Women Don't Understand Their Own Sexuality

Some of Meredith Chivers’ work compares female perceptions of their sexual responses with their bodily response.
In this study women indicated their level of arousal via a keypad while a plethysmograph measured the blood flow through their genitals. The responses often didn’t match.
During shots of lesbian coupling, heterosexual women reported less excitement than their vaginas indicated; watching gay men, they reported a great deal less; and viewing heterosexual intercourse, they reported much more. Among the lesbian volunteers, the two readings converged when women appeared on the screen. But when the films featured only men, the lesbians reported less engagement than the plethysmograph recorded.
Even ostensibly liberal enlightened parents are raising their daughters in ways that subtly condition them to be ‘nice.’ They still buy them Archie Comics, with Betty and Veronica as role-models. They think it cute. But the comics like a tremendous amount of mass culture still perpetuate gender stereotypes. Just not as obviously as in the past.
