Melody Damayo for Govenor

Philippine News spoke to the porn star turned gubernatorial candidate:
PN: So why and how does one go from a piano-playing girl-next door to a porn star at 18?
DAMAYO: I needed money to pay for college. Our family suffered (financially) because of the recession. We had to move to Guam, and later on I had to go back to the Philippines to finish high school — I also took up commerce and accounting classes there — because it was cheaper there. Then I came back to Los Angeles just before I turned 18. Then I ran out money.
PN: Do you have any regrets about getting into the adult film industry?
DAMAYO: No. Not at all, because if not for the adult industry, I wouldn’t be accepted in the mainstream now.
It ‘s nothing that I’ll ever be defensive about because there’s nothing in it that made me feel guilty. I celebrate my womanhood and my choices. I hold to the highest honor the dignity of individualism, and that’s one of the principal beliefs of a Republican. Abraham Lincoln said it himself. As long as you’re not hurting other people, every man should enjoy the fruits of his labor.
