It is easy to imagine the day when American may have something like the Publication Appraisal Foundation.
But it is hard to think of any reason at all why adult readers in a free society should be deprived of reading anything they choose, once they have been forewarned about content. The old phrase in English law defining obscene publications was “material likely to deprave and corrupt.” Does the Publication Appraisal Foundation honestly think adults are going to be depraved and corrupted by pictures of erect penises? Does it think they are more likely to be depraved and corrupted by the gay pornography Gin Gin’s was selling than by the slew of ordinary heterosexual pornography readily available in Taiwan?
