Want To Be A Phone Sex Operator?

» Phone Sex Operators

Guys, you’re probably not going to be able to find a job having phone sex with just (or even mostly) women. There simply isn’t enough demand. If you’re straight or prefer women and doing it for the love, you’re better off keeping it personal. If you’re doing it for the money, you’re going to be taking calls from men. You’ll have to either tackle the gay/bi market or practice your girlie voices and see if you can get hired on as a transsexual (do your research, if you can’t answer basic questions about hormones you’re going to look silly).

Transwomen, you’ve got it made. There is such a demand for you that we’ve got MTF impersonators on the phones filling the gaps. If you’re comfortable going independent and doing both phone and cam you will have many devotees, especially if you like domination from the giving end and think boys into crossdressing and/or forced cocksucking are cute, sexy, or amusing.

Transmen, you’re even more of a niche market- if you’re playing yourself I suggest spending a lot of time looking into fetishes and playing with your marketing. You also have the option of playing either a girl, a guy, or an MTF transsexual on the phones. Listen to your voice and choose wisely.

Girls, you have the most options and the most competition. (Yes, there is a lot of competition in this line of work, and here I am creating more of it.) If you’re into guys, you’re set. If you’re a lesbian or prefer women I’ll tell you two things:

  1. We have plenty of lesbian PSOs (Phone Sex Operators).
  2. Men are usually the bulk of their clients.

Women and transfolk do call (relatively rarely), and you do have options other than having phone sex with men. Plenty of them will get off on the very idea that you won’t have phone sex with them. If you’re into tease & denial, domination, female supremacy or any similar kinks, you’ve got it made. There’s also plenty of money to be had just in telling stories about what you do with your girlfriends.

The remainder of this series is going to be written from the perspective of a female phone sex operator taking male clients, simply because that’s the bulk of the business. A lot of the information will be universally applicable or usable with some perspective changes. This just saves me from having to write three or four articles.

Most of you start out asking how to get into phone sex, but the first question you need to ask is:

What’s In It For Me?

  • Flexible schedule (usually)
  • Decent money
  • Work at home
  • Can be anonymous- it’s one of the few forms of sex work where age and appearance don’t have to be an issue
  • It’s one of the least boring jobs you can have, in my opinion
  • Talking to interesting, often sexy-voiced strangers- and getting paid for it
  • No formal qualifications, often no experience necessary
  • You’re making people feel good on a very basic level
  • It’s a multifaceted business, if you go independent, with lots to learn
  • The girls are a great bunch- funny, smart, supportive, and down to earth

Why Shouldn’t I Do This?

  • Variable money
  • Sex worker stigma (slowly fading, but still very real)
  • Stalker callers (the less info you give them, the less they have to work with- generally more an annoyance than a threat)
  • Concern about roommates hearing you
  • Political ambitions (see Sex Worker Stigma)
  • Discomfort with sex

Easy money (it’s not rocket surgery, but it can be physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding, and it does take time, skill, and effort to make money)

Just for the money (with a disgust for the job)- you’ll get burned out and the money will have a foul aftertaste

What Does It Take?

  • Creativity
  • Imagination
  • Listening and conversational skills
  • Broad knowledge of sex and fetishes
  • A sense of humor
  • 18+ (if you aren’t over 18, get out of my blog, ya perv)
  • A fairly quiet working environment
  • A clear phone connection- specific phone requirements will vary by company. If you’re determined to use a cell you’ll probably be going independent.
  • A computer (not always), and a high speed connection helps
  • Comfort with sex- including unusual, bizzare, sometimes disgusting fantasies*
  • Talking about and describing sex on demand- you’re always in the mood**
  • An appealing, sexy, emotive voice. Accents are in high demand, if it’s not thick to the point of incomprehension.
  • You have to like men. You don’t have to be sexually attracted to men, but it really does help to like them, or at least to like making them cry (if you’re doing hardcore dom).

* Some companies require you to talk about anything and everything, and they do mean anything and everything. Some have restrictions of their own, and some let you choose your own limits, within reason. Consider your limits and your voice when making a character and picking your niche(s)- it helps to create a character with your own sexual expertise and tastes in mind. If you have a young voice, you will get requests for underage roleplays. That can mean pretending to be 16 and it can mean pretending to be 6. Know your company’s policies and know your own limits.

** If this is actually the case, and you have a problem with being too horny for your own good, this job can actually really help your libido calm down to the normal-to-high range instead of the “needs to stop humping people’s legs” range. It worked for me…
