Venus in Furs : Dramatized

» Femdom

I’ve never event ried to read Leopold von Sacher-Masoch’s Venus in Furs. I did read theGuido Crepax comic and have a French film adaptation that I’ll watch when my lover is back.

Michael Scott-Price has turned the novel into a play:

The story, which gave us the word “masochism,” centers on Severin, a dilettante who’s anxious to find something to which, or someone to whom, he can commit. When he discovers a statue of Venus that he finds erotic and that awakens an early sexual fantasy of being beaten by a spinster aunt, he has found his focus, particularly when the statue seems to come to life one night. When he realizes the apparition is a neighbor, Wanda, he pursues her doggedly, requesting that she become his dominatrix. Their tortured tango, the contract they ultimately seal, and Severin’s final downfall constitute the arc of “Venus.”
