Those Sexy Vampires

True Blood creator Alan Ball explains the popularity of vampires:
The Joy of Vampire Sex: ‘True Blood’ on Rolling Stone’s Latest Cover“To me, vampires are sex,” he said. “I don’t get a vampire story about abstinence. I’m 53. I don’t care about high school students. I find them irritating and uninformed.”
I hope he realizes that lust is also what appeals to teenagers in vampire entertainments. The teen vampire novels always have covers hinting at sex. Vampire novels are just the latest variation in mass market romance fiction.
As a boy I grew up watching the Christopher Lee Count Dracula movies made by Hammer Studios. For me the thrill was being apart, detached from humanity. Not Dracula’s wives.

Vampires are powerful, controlling and yes the detached from humanity. From Bella ( the vampire not Edwards wife ) to Christopher to Gary Oldman,I have been fascinated by the subject as have millions around the world. Mrs. Meyers has continued that fascination for the new generation. Like it or not they are immortal and have past the test of time.
