Vermont's legal peeping toms

» Crime & Punishment

In Vermont unless certain precautions are taken it is legal to go up to people’s windows and take photographs of them. One Montpelier’s camera was found packed with photos of couples making love and half-naked teenage girls, all on their own bedrooms.

Vermont has no “Peeping Tom” statute. Unless a homeowner has posted no trespassing signs on his or her lawn, anyone walking by is within his legal rights to approach a window, look inside, and record what he sees.

This should be opt-in, not opt-out. Signage that reads PEEPING 10PM-4AM.

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Vermont's legal peeping toms. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
