Rants against critical pornography studies

A class on pornography in popular culture will be available next fall at the University of Iowa.
One person who isn’t a fan, however, is Iowa House Speaker Chris Rants, who is questioning whether tax dollars should be spent on the elective class.
“Do they know that we’re not done with their budget yet?” Rants, R-Sioux City, said. “I’m pretty sure we don’t need to increase state funding by $40 million to teach critical pornography studies.”
Really lives up to his name doesn’t he. Since no pornography will be viewed during the class he doesn’t have much of a cause. Even Iowa Christian groups aren’t offended. Though not viewing porn while studying it seems rather like taking a course on the late 19th-century English Novel without cracking open Dickens.
