Research reveals that women are more distrustful and disgusted with porn. They are also more likely to want the government in intervene in the private lives of people to prevent them from enjoying online erotica.
One could say that women are more, ahem, sensitive. Or - more likely? - that American women are more inhibited.
Sad to see gender stereotypes continue but American’s are a conformist unadventurous lot.
Does porn create unrealistic expectations? In the mind of anyone who can’t distinguish between fantasy and reality. The problem is with the person not their choice of entertainment.
Do American women need to loosen up more sexually? Not the women I’ve known most of my life. But I don’t hang out with ordinary people. I have no idea.
A Harris Poll finds that the public is divided on the subject of pornography and what, if anything should be done about it. The poll also shows that women are generally much more critical of pornography than men. As a result, a small majority of women, but not of men, favors government regulation of pornography on the Internet (if that were possible).
